The simplicity of microsites also calls for basic navigation. Most often, they are run as a one-page solution where all the user has to do to explore the content is scroll down. How is a microsite different from a landing page? The main difference between a landing page and a microsite is that the landing page is located in the same domain as the main website, while the microsite has its own subdomain or a standalone address. Microsite Vs. Landing Page Landing page: Microsite: or House Other than that, both entities can serve similar purposes. However, as mentioned, the microsite provides more opportunities to diversify the design, style, and content of the parent website. Additionally, you can use specific search terms in page URLs to improve your targeting and increase campaign or product visibility. The site can showcase product features, clearly state its value proposition, showcase white papers, PR information, resources, and more. For example, American singer and songwriter Halsey launches a new microsite for each new album she creates to create their unique creative value:Presentation of new products Source Launching a standalone blog Although for many blogging still seems like a hobby for people who have too much free time, when it comes to business blogging is a serious undertaking that requires a lot of planning, T-Shirt Design service resources and consistency. If the company wishes to position its blog as a stand-alone digital publication, it may decide to launch it under a separate domain name and dedicate a sovereign editorial team to it. There are many reasons to do this, including but not limited to covering topics that are not entirely business related but important in the industry, SEO ranking and visibility, design and the style, the differentiation of the blog's mission and attitude from those of the company, etc. T-Shirt Design service . Overall, if the business wants to create an independent information point, a microsite is a viable option. Provide event information Microsites are a great way to promote events without cluttering your website with excessive information. This is especially true when the company has a rich calendar of events aimed at distinct audiences. You may use the site to provide venue(s) details, sell tickets, feature attendees and sponsors, share schedules, post updates, build hype, and more. T-Shirt Design service As events have a limited lifespan, overtime keeping this information on your main website can lead to endless outdated pages that serve no purpose and lower your overall ranking and domain authority. without having to visit an e-commerce store. It's not only convenient for the user, but lucrative for the brand. The faster, easier, and frictionless the purchase, the less likely the customer is to reconsider. This allows businesses to increase subscriber engagement and harness the power of impulse buying. Remove Background Image Moreover, combined with a great product and a pleasant post-purchase experience, social commerce can quickly boost not only sales, but also brand promotion. Customers who shop on social media are more likely to use the platform to share positive word-of-mouth and create user-generated content. The most important platforms to test social commerce for your brand are Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. However, be sure to follow the progress of Twitter's plans as they are back in the game and want to give the trend another shot. Second, we focus on website clicks, which send people to an advertiser's website so they can learn more about their product or service, or buy or download that product or service. Hassle-free online shopping Although live shopping is not limited to social media platforms, it certainly thrives there. Like many other social trends, this one also originated in China and is taking the rest of the world by storm. Brands host live shopping events to showcase their products, test them out in front of their audience, answer questions and, well, make a show of them. The format resembles teleshopping, but takes it to the next level as the audience can not only communicate with the presenter, but also with each other. The host of the event is usually a celebrity, an expert in the field, an influencer or even the business owner. However, the live shopping experience can do much more than that: it can enhance the brand experience, help build a connection with the customer, and create a loyal community. All in all, what makes the trend so popular is that it is exciting and allows people to share real, real-time emotion with other people. Real Estate Photo Editing And that's something everyone needs right now. 3. Connect with customers through user-generated content User-generated content (UGC) is one of the most valuable forms of online marketing you could want. These are basically customers who indirectly recommend you to other customers by showing how happy they are with your brand and its products. This makes social media platforms one of the main digital word-of-mouth channels. Although UGC is not a new trend, it is one that will undoubtedly remain for years to come. Brands that find ways to develop and use their full potential will always be one step ahead of their competition by creating brand ambassadors, creating brand ambassadors, creating awareness, credibility and reliability among their subscribers and loyal customers. As the video format is more popular than ever on these platforms, you can consider different ways it can benefit your social media branding. Real Estate Photo Editing Service Encourage your customers to shoot short unboxing videos, show how they use your products, share testimonials, or think of creative ways to showcase the product(s). To make sure you don't miss any interesting conversations about yourself, consider using social listening tools. Real Estate Photo Editing This way, not only will you stay in the know and be able to participate in conversations about your brand, but it will also increase the visibility of your customer's UGC and ensure it has a greater impact. 4. Ready or not, here comes TikTok Although the majority of mature brands don't take TikTok seriously, the fact is that the social media platform is the place to be right now, especially if you're targeting millennials and Gen Z.

And if you're not, remember that these generations are a consumer force to be reckoned with and you should consider adding them to your audience. TikTok's iconic short portrait videos have become such a hit that other platforms are embedding them so you don't miss a thing. Think Facebook Stories and Instagram Reels. Raster to Vector Conversion They're taking off, but TikTok is still where these videos feel most native. The reason younger generations love the TikTok experience is that it not only gives them a stage to show off their skills and passions, but also to peek into other people's worlds. It doesn't have Facebook's (kind of fake) semblance of personal space, it's stripped of Instagram's fake shine, and it's not as contemplative as Twitter – it's just fun. For businesses, this provides a valuable opportunity to let their brand personality shine through and create deeper connections with their customers. You can be creative, laid back, authentic and captivated by a moment. This allows people to relate to your brand and feel engaged. Plus, TikTok is no stranger to social commerce, Raster to Vector Conversion Service which makes it even better, because it's not just your connection with the audience that can benefit, but your direct bottom line! If you're still not convinced, just keep in mind that there are currently over a billion active users on TikTok, and the numbers are growing rapidly. 5. Explore the Metaverse The social metaverse provides a new playground for brands to expand their influence and connect with their customers. Although this type of artificial reality is not yet widely used, Meta Platforms (formerly known as Facebook) is eager to tap into its potential and promises, well, a whole new world of new opportunities. Raster to Vector Conversion Explore the Metaverse If the Metaverse lives up to its promise, brands will be able to virtually meet their customers face-to-face and create a full-bodied, real-life experience. This means new ways to engage the customer, advertise and showcase your products, and even possibly create entirely new products.

However, since the Metaverse isn't, technically speaking, a single unified virtual space (yet), but a set of self-contained artificial realities by different companies, brands will have to choose which one to join. Additionally, if they have the resources, they can consider creating their own metaspaces entirely dedicated to their audience. Photo Retouching Service The opportunities are limitless and, as with any new technology, the pioneers and early adopters are the most at risk, but, if executed well, they will also be the ones whose names will become famous and, perhaps, even generic brands. 6. Push on augmented reality Similar to artificial reality, augmented reality is all the rage on social media. And why wouldn't it be? The lives that people showcase on social media platforms are, more often than not, nothing more than augmented reality. When platforms provide the necessary tools, people connect quickly. Instagram has been the leader of this trend with its myriad of filters that allow people to change their appearance beyond recognition, or just add a twist here and there. Photo Retouching Service However, other platforms are not far behind. Pinterest recently added an augmented reality feature that allows users to virtually place furniture around their home to see if it fits in with the rest of the interior or not. The tool looks awesome, and if it spreads, people will probably use it for more than just furniture. Brands can leverage technology to virtually step into their customers' lives and living rooms. Whether it's adding your products to the augmented reality list or creating custom camera filters to suit your business, this trend is worth trying. And even though it's been around for a while, it still feels like a novelty, which makes it exciting. Photo Retouching Service Therefore, you can use it to build buzz around your brand and products, and encourage highly shareable content. 7. The rise of brand communities Social media communities are a great way for businesses to unite their followers and enrich the brand experience. These online companies allow people to exchange information, discuss products and their use, and share ideas.

At the same time, brands can streamline their marketing message, solidify their brand identity, and have quality communication with their customers. Communities allow prospects who are in the thinking stage of their journey to get a taste of what it's like to be part of the inner circle. At the same time, they allow brands to provide a quality post-purchase experience to their existing customers and offer them exclusive information such as tutorials, how-to videos and articles, limited offers, etc. Additionally, Photo Restoration Service brands can better understand how people interact with their products, how they use them, what issues they encounter, and what they like and dislike. They can also post polls and surveys and collect invaluable feedback from their customers. Analyzing this data and other aspects of customer behavior enables them to improve both their products and their marketing messages, find new selling points, adjust their value proposition canvases and identify the best product-market fit. 8. Occasional Customer Service Communication Over the years, instant messaging apps have become the digital community's most popular method of communication. Photo Restoration Service They're faster, less personal and engaging than a phone call, less formal than an email, and offer a casual way to stay in touch with friends and family. This convenience, combined with the growing presence and activity of brands on social media platforms, has made instant messaging the preferred method for customers to contact businesses. Brands that take their messages seriously and don't quickly transfer the customer to another channel can not only connect with their customers on a more personal level, but also provide hassle-free customer service. Occasional customer service communication Source Younger generations worry about most forms of communication, but with instant messaging they are in their element. These platforms allow brands to provide quick Q&As, solve problems, and reduce the distance between them and the public. Photo Restoration Service If you can't afford to assign a dedicated IM customer service person and your social media manager feels overwhelmed, you might consider implementing a chatbot to handle the less complex communication. and engage your people only when further action is needed. 9. and our favorite, because it shows ingenuity and a creative approach initiated by brands and not by social networks. Social media posts are now…wait…a currency! Brands give away their products for free to people who will hopefully write a positive review or post about the product and tag the brand. Logo Designs service And we're not talking about influencers with thousands of followers here – they're just regular people like you and me. goal is obviously obvious. The company provides a sample of the product and the customer spreads the word about how good it is. The fact that they get it for free contributes to the positive attitude and motivates the person to go out of their way to say something nice. This creates awareness and positive word-of-mouth, and, if managed properly by the brand, can also result in valuable UGC in the form of videos, photos, and hashtag love. It's great and we love it! Unfortunately, this approach is not suitable for all products, because no one is going to give away cars and televisions, for example. Logo Designs service However, you can always adapt the trend to your business needs and arrange test drives in exchange for messages, or allow a limited audience of customers to test your new latest QLED TV for a week and share their experiences. Just be creative! Conclusion What we love the most about new social media trends is that they never fail to surprise us. It may seem like nothing is changing and everyone is just scrolling through their feeds, but, behind the scenes, new ideas are always brewing. Social media platforms allow customers and brands to be creative in their approaches, try out new ideas, and connect with the world. Logo Designs service With new technologies enhancing their experiences and Gen Z, as digital natives, all adults and entering the world of business, we can expect the unexpected and look forward to new and exciting ways in which social media will benefit businesses and consumers.

But if you're on the other hand and Google's quality algorithms aren't so sure about your site from a quality standpoint, you can unfortunately lose those rich snippets. First, here is a site that has dealt with its share of declines based on previous algorithm updates that have worked hard to improve over time. Jewelry photo Retouching Service The site finally received FAQ snippets when the May 2020 General Update was rolled out. Here is a site losing rich snippets in the May 2020 general update (handy snippets in this case). And here's how a visibility tool can detect drops or increases in rich snippets over time. Using a tool like Semrush, you can filter by different types of search functionality to see trends over time. This site lost revision snippets with the January 2020 General Update. Here's another example of Semush capturing an increase in review snippets. This time was during the general update in June 2021. This site received snippets of reviews after working to improve overall quality (for months before the update). Jewelry Photo Retouching Service The chart below is filtered by SERP Feature, then Reviews:Using visibility tools can help you visualize these rich snippet declines or gains over time (beyond the 16 months of data provided by GSC). It is useful when auditing sites that you did not have access to when the initial dip or surge occurred. Why Overall Site Quality Matters: Rich Snippets + Stronger Rankings Overall A broad assessment of site-level quality and impact can have a big effect on visibility in the SERPs and in the Discover feed. If Google re-evaluates your site and it exceeds a certain quality threshold, Jewelry Photo Retouching Service your whole site can benefit. This is why some sites may see a very strong impact during general updates or other major algorithm updates (like updating product reviews).

It's not a specific URL that sees an improvement, it's the site that receives a higher overall score from a quality perspective (which can help many URLs rank higher on one site and not just a few). And from a rich snippets perspective, Image Masking Service if your ads in the SERPs suddenly get review, how-to, or FAQ snippets, you can get a nice edge in the SERPs from a click-through rate perspective. If you mix improved SERP processing from rich snippets with stronger overall rankings (which can happen if Google's Site Quality Rating improves for a site), it can result in stronger rankings. solids combined with better SERP processing. This combination can be very powerful for sites getting extended core updates or other major algorithm updates. Summary: Impact of rich snippets during major algorithm updates I know there can be a lot of confusion as to why sites see the gain or loss of rich snippets with major algorithm updates (like the main June 2021 update). Image Masking Service For sites that lose rich snippets, Google's quality algorithms may not be convinced of the overall quality of those sites. And that can lead to a loss of rich snippets, or even a big drop in Discover's visibility. This is why it is extremely important to focus on overall site quality (especially for sites negatively impacted by general Google updates). And as I explained in my articles on general kernel updates, there is no silver bullet for this. Google will need to see a significant improvement in quality over the long term for a site to find rich snippets (or to gain more visibility in Discover). Image Masking Service So don't get bogged down in improving a few URLs on your site so much that you forget about Google's overall site quality rating. These site-level signals can have a big impact on visibility in the SERPs and in Discover. Good luck.

Welcome to Google Land. Please keep hands, arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times. :) Yes, Google's spectacular summer of algorithm updates continues. This has been one of the most volatile few months I can remember from an algorithm update perspective. First, Google rolled out the Product Reviews update in April, Image Manipulation Service which was followed by the general update in June (when Google also explained that a second core update would be rolled out in July). Next, the highly anticipated Page Experience update rolled out in mid-June. After that, Google rolled out two anti-spam updates on 6/23 and 6/28, followed by the general July 2021 update on 7/1. Google has been busy, that's for sure. Image Manipulation Service For the most part, it feels like this: In this article, I'll be covering results based on the July 2021 General Update and its sister Core Update that rolled out in June. Many sites had an impact during both core algorithm updates, so it makes sense to document what I see on both. And that includes some reversals (which Google says could happen with the July update). Image Manipulation Service Remember that Google explained that some improvements weren't ready for the main update in June and that's why there would be a second main update in July.

This is unusual…and Google hasn't explained more about it (for obvious reasons). Quick overview of a dual-core update: In this article, I will provide a list of quick facts based on what I see on the affected sites. First, here's a quick table of contents in case you want to jump around the post. Contents: Rolling out July and June core updates. Illustrator Art Work It's time to see the impact. Reversals from June. The June and July core updates were distinct and unique. Tremors. Health and medical sites. Financial sites. Sites with the same or nearly duplicate content. Category adjustment based on product reviews update flaw. Rollbacks of previous general kernel updates. Product review sites. Spam updates. Impact of rich snippets. A note on Core Web Vitals. Illustrator Art Work The "Kitchen Sink" approach to sanitation. Site-level quality signals. Latest tips and recommendations. General June and July Update Rollout: The June Update started rolling out on 2/6 and ended on 12/6. It was quite fast for a large baseline update, which can sometimes take up to 14 days to fully roll out. The July General Update started rolling out on 7/1 and was completed on Monday 7/12. So the July update took 12 days to fully roll out, closer to what we normally see with extended core updates. And I should mention the dates of other Google algorithm updates rolled out since early June. Site owners should be aware of these dates to ensure that they see the movement of general core updates and not others. Illustrator Art Work Google started rolling out the long-awaited Page Experience update on 6/15, but it will be slow and won't be fully complete until the end of August. Also, Google explained that Page Experience Signal would be a lightweight factor (more of a deciding factor). So if you see a big move in June and July, it's probably not coming from the

Page Experience update. Here's a slide from my SMX Advanced presentation on signal strength (with one of my tweets based on a video by Google's Martin Splitt): Also, and I've covered this in other articles on general kernel updates, but it's important to analyze dropped requests and landing pages based on a general kernel update. Ghost Mannequin Effect There could be multiple reasons for the drop, including relevance adjustments, intent changes, overall site quality issues (or a mix of reasons). You can read my article on this subject for more information. Turnarounds from June to July. We were warned about this… When rolling out the June 2021 General Update, Google explained that some sites may see reversals with the July 2021 General Update. Needless to say, I was interested in seeing how it would be. I also tweeted that no one should declare victory with the main June update until the July full rollout. And after the rollout of the general July update, I saw some sites backtracking. There weren't a ton of site-based reversals in my dataset, but there were quite a few. Ghost Mannequin Effect Here are some examples of visibility changes for sites that have experienced reversals (either up, then down, or down, then up):Google: June and July core updates were distinct and unique. Based on some sites seeing an impact in one update, and not the other, Google's John Mueller was asked about it during a Search Central Hangout video. John explained that the main June and July updates were separate and unique updates. And just because they're "core updates" doesn't mean they affect the same core parts of the ranking system. This is why some sites may see an impact during one major update, but not the other. Ghost Mannequin Effect Here's John explaining this (at 30:25 in the video):Tremors: This is no surprise, just like the other major algorithm updates. After rolling out major algorithm updates, it's not unusual for Google to make small changes to the algorithm based on what it sees in the SERPs. You can think of them as minor tweaks to fine-tune the results. Google's John Mueller publicly explained this in Medieval Panda.

Well, we certainly saw some jolts during the July general kernel update (especially towards the end of the rollout). Here are two examples of sites seeing changes starting around 09/07. Is there a doctor in the house? E-Commerce Photo Editing A reminder that Google's algorithms can be more critical of medical content:With many general updates, there can be a lot of volatility on sites categorized as your money or your life (YMYL). And within that category, health and medicine can often see a lot of movement. Google publicly explains that its algorithms are more critical with medical and health content (for obvious reasons). Here's a tweet I shared based on a video of Google's John Mueller explaining more about health and medicine. And here is a direct link to the video if you want to watch it now (from 8:25 p.m. in the video): Well, I've seen some really big swings on some health and medical sites with the June and July updates. E-Commerce Photo Editing Some sites have undergone huge changes in search visibility… Note that it is impossible to know exactly what Google has changed as there are so many factors being evaluated. In my opinion, you will rarely be able to isolate specific changes to Google's algorithms (for general kernel updates). It's more important to keep improving your site as a whole, and I'll cover the "kitchen sink" approach to fixing later in this article. For example, here are some examples of big visibility changes for health/medical sites:Take the money and run. E-Commerce Photo Editing Also a lot of volatility on some financial sites. While we're talking about YMYL content, I've also seen a lot of big swings in search visibility on finance-focused sites. Since these sites are considered YMYL, Google's algorithms keep them higher.

And some of the sites have seen a lot of movement with the core set of summer updates. For example: Sites with the same or almost duplicated content: reference, lyrics, directories. I've covered sites that contain the same or very similar content before. For example, reference sites, lyrics sites, directories, etc. Google explained that if you provide the same content as many other sites and don't add serious value, Crop Resizing Service it can be difficult for Google's algorithms to decide which sites should rank well. I've seen this many times over the years and have helped a number of sites in verticals like these. It's easy for sites that don't add value to go up and down with every general kernel update (while Google struggles to figure out which ones should rank higher…) With the core updates in June and July, I've seen a lot of movement on sites that fall into these categories. Again, it is extremely important to provide serious added value (especially when the content is the same or nearly duplicated). Crop resizing service If you don't provide added value, you could rise in one update and fall sharply in the next. And that leads to a roller coaster trend (which can drive site owners crazy). Here are some examples of sites that fall into this category that have seen a lot of movement:Large scale referral sites: Lyrics sites that move a lot: Interesting: Category adjustment based on product reviews update flaw? Continuing along the lines of trends I saw in the main updates in June and July, many sites in a specific vertical did not fare well with this update. I've done a lot of work in this area over the years and it was clear that Google had implemented some big changes on this front. I'm not saying that all sites in the niche have fallen sharply, but a number of sites have (including some of the top performers). It could have started when Google took a close look at the vertical after the Product Ratings Update (PRU). Crop resizing service With this update, some sites that do not provideof review content increased for queries that fell outside their scope. I can't go into detail on this, but Google's algorithms mistakenly caused these sites to increase during the PRU.

So I knew it wouldn't take them long to implement changes to it algorithmically. And these changes could be observed during the general updates of June and July. I've covered more information about the collateral improvement I've seen in my product review update post. Color Correction Services Here are some trends for these sites during the update(s): Rollbacks from previous general updates: the gray area of Google's algorithms. In my previous articles on general kernel updates, I explained a very important point for site owners regarding recovery. Sites that are heavily impacted by Extended Base Updates typically cannot see recovery until another Extended Base Update is deployed. There were a few exceptions, including what I saw with the product reviews update, but overall sites usually have to wait for another general update to see recovery (and that is only if the quality of the site has improved considerably over the long term). You can read my previous articles on Core Updates to learn more about this. Color Correction Services Here's a slide from my SMX Advanced presentation with information on recovering from major Google updates (including information from Google's John Mueller):Well, during this update, there were many, many examples of sites that reversed course (on a large scale) from previous core updates. And for sites that jumped in a previous major update only to get hammered in this massive major update, this can often happen when those sites are in the gray area of Google's algorithms (where they can get out of the gray zone on an update and surge, but get back into the danger zone on the next update and give up). Color Correction Services I've explained many times before that the gray area of Google's algorithms is an infuriating place for site owners. Here is an example of a site experiencing major volatility during a number of general updates:Product Review Sites: Enough is Enough What a month it's been for product review sites…

We got the product review update in April, which felt like an update basic updates for many review sites. And then the general June and July updates rolled out and some of those sites had even more of an impact. Clipping Path Service And some even reversed course with the general June/July updates. It looks like this summer's dual-core updates had an even bigger impact on a number of these sites. For example, here are some product review sites during the June/July major updates: And then there were review sites that were unaffected by the product reviews update that saw big gains or drops in the major June and July updates. Here is a client of mine who has worked extremely hard to improve the site as a whole (large-scale review site impacted by several previous core updates that jumped in the general update in June). It was great to see based on the amount of work they did on the site:Anti-spam updates + general updates. Clipping Path Service A one-two punch (or more) for some sites. I mentioned earlier that Google released two spammy updates in June (the first on 6/23, then the second update five days later on 6/28). Most sites saw no impact from these spammy updates, but it was important for those that did. And beyond the spammy updates, some of these sites saw additional movement with the general updates in June and July. Some reversed course, some rose, some fell, and so on. It's definitely been a crazy few weeks for these sites (getting caught in spam updates and general updates). Clipping Path Service For example, here are a few sites that are seeing movement with spam updates and general June/July updates:Impact of rich snippets: speaking of the devil My last blog post discussed how rich snippets can be affected by general kernel updates, so it was only fitting that this would happen during the June/July kernel updates .

If you want to learn more about this (and how it can happen), check out my blog post. Here's a great example of a site that received rich snippets after losing them in a previous general core update (review snippets in this case). This is based on Google's site-level quality signals (which Googlers have already explained and based on what I've seen many times in the field). I'll cover site-level quality signals soon. Banner Design Service And here are some returning code snippets for a site in the June general update that removed them in a previous core update:A Note on Core Web Vitals: Correlation and Causality Based on the impact of the June/July Core Update, some people have speculated that Core Web Vitals were factored into the updates. summer day. For example, many sites that improved during the update had good Core Web Vitals scores, and some speculated that those scores were part of the reason for their increase. I was also asked on Twitter about this. First, I don't think the Core Web Vitals scores were factored into the general June and July updates. Banner Design Service And I was happy to see Google's John Mueller confirm that it did. You can see the video below for John's response. But that doesn't mean an improved user experience hasn't helped these sites. For years I've said that general Google updates consider many factors, including user experience. I explained how aggressive and disruptive advertising can impact sites, how barriers to user experience can impact, how deception can be problematic, and more. Banner Design Service So it only makes sense that sites improving these areas might see gains in later general updates (while also seeing Core Web Vital scores improve). For example, here's a slide from my SMX presentation in 2019 where I discussed how a negative user experience could contribute to broad base update success: As for sites that improved in the main July update, here are the Core Web Vitals scores for two sites that improved in the main June update, but their scores aren't great. They are fine and have improved, but they are not strong in all areas.
